Posted on behalf of the PEC Studio Tour, there’s a special initiative going on this year:
It’s the Prince Edward County Studio Tour’s 25th anniversary this year and we are planning a special event that will bring together the County’s creative community in celebration.
We’re putting out a call to the County’s writers and poets to join in a collaborative effort with members of the PEC Studio Tour where art meets the written word. The Greeks termed this ‘ekphrasis’, meaning a vivid description of an object – usually a work of art.
This type of collaboration is not new to the Tour. A few years ago, the Studio Tour put on a show called “26 Atlantic Crossings” where 26 artists were paired with 26 writers from the UK. The idea was spawned by one of the Tour’s artists, Joanna McFarland, together with her sister, a writer who resides in the UK. The show was exciting not just for the many visitors who came to see it, but also for the artists and the writers. There’s a video online about that show .
It was decided that this brilliant exercise between this year’s Studio Tour artists and the writing talents from our very own County community would be the perfect way to celebrate the Tour’s 25th anniversary!
There will be an Information Session on Tuesday February 27, 2018 from 5:00 – 6:00 pm to be held at the Baxter Arts Center, 3 Stanley Street, in Bloomfield. All interested Studio Tour artists and County writers and poets are invited to learn what the project is all about.
Know a County writer who might be interested in participating? Please pass this on and encourage them to join us at the Info Session. For those who can’t make it on the 27th, they should reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Please RSVP by February 22nd if you plan to attend.
Look forward to seeing you there!
