The Bard’s Bus Tour is coming!
Driftwood Theatre’s HAMLET
August 8th at Millpond Park, Bloomfield
Founded in 1995, Driftwood Theatre Group is Ontario’s first and longest running outdoor touring theatre tradition. Their annual Bard’s Bus Tour travels to parks and heritage sites across the province. Believing that great theatre is only of value if an audience has access to it, Driftwood Theatre Group’s annual Bard’s Bus Tour is always “Pay What You Can” admission.
Hamlet is the ultimate tragedy framed in a world dominated by the politics of fear. Newcomers to Hamlet and Shakespearean enthusiasts will delight in this version; a perfect match for Driftwood’s inventive theatrical style and magical outdoor settings. This is Hamlet with the brakes off!
Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. Pay what you can admission (recommended $20/person). Performance begins at 7:30 pm. 100% Performance Guarantee! In case of inclement weather, the performance will be moved to Bloomfield United Church.
BONUS! Looking for the ultimate Shakespearience?
Sign up for a hands-on workshop on Saturday August 8th from 2 – 5 pm at the Baxter Arts Centre. In this three-hour workshop, you will spend an afternoon with a Driftwood company member exploring the text of Hamlet through theatre games and activities. Your group will work together to prepare a series of tableaux summarizing the plot, themes and characters of Hamlet which you’ll ultimately perform for the Driftwood audience later that evening! It’s one part workshop, one part performance, all parts fun. Everyone is welcome, regardless of performance experience. This workshop is suitable for teens and adults.
Advance Registration is required as the number of workshop participants is limited (follow the “Shakespearience” links on the Driftwood Theatre’s web site to register). Admission is “Pay What You Can” (suggested $20), which includes general admission to the Hamlet performance on the workshop date.
