Workshop Fee: $250
Number of Registrants: up to 12.
Carol Anderson has pursued a long and diverse career as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, director and author. An avid dance writer, she has chronicled Canadian dance and dancers since the 1980s in a developing body of writing that includes biographies, collections, articles, notes, and essays. Recently retired from the Department of Dance at York University, she continues to write, teach and choreograph – and looks forward to spending more time at her place in the County where she’s cottaged for 21 years.
Arwyn Carpenter holds a Masters in Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography from NYU, New York. She currently teaches for the Toronto District School Board where she specializes in creative dance for students in Grades 1-6. She has also taught and created choreography for students at the Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre. Together with Carol Anderson, Arwyn offers movement workshops at the Baxter Arts Centre, hoping to foster growth of both community and performance dance in the County. During the last two Summers, Arwyn and Carol choreographed and performed in Sun On Stone in Oeno Gallery’s Sculpture Garden.
Jodi Shuster’s paintings combine gestural strokes and lively colours, expressing her joy and spontaneous reaction to her subjects. Her passion for colour and movement has spanned many decades. Following a long-time career in the animation industry, Jodi has been painting full time since 2004. She has shown her work in galleries in Toronto and Montreal and in many group and solo shows. She teaches aspiring painters and continues her own professional development through workshops and classes. Along with teaching several flower painting workshops throughout the Spring and Summer (including at the Baxter Arts Centre), Jodi will be returning to this year’s PEC Studio Tour.
