Paint and Play with Kato! Value and Colour
June 29, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm$15
THREE MONDAY AFTERNOONS in JUNE
June 15, 22, 29
From 2:00 to 3:30pm
COST: $15 per class or $40 for all three
MORE THAN EVER we need to make time to play, and not worry. Join Kato Wake for a 3-week
‘art camp’ and learn a few design and painting fundamentals – disguised as ‘play.’ Get out of
your head and give yourself a break. Learning will never be this much fun! Each week Kato will
put together a demo, along with a slide show of various paintings to demonstrate ideas, then
give you some ‘light’ homework to do (or not). Should you accept the challenge, you can email
Kato your finished work which will be shared with others in the following class (it can be
anonymous if you prefer). It’s a great way to learn – watching how everyone problem solves in
her unique way – and perfect for online teaching. This class is structured around acrylics.
Material list will be emailed to students prior to class. All levels and ages welcome. Classes will
use Baxter’s ZOOM account (www.zoom.us.) More details upon signing up.

VALUE and COLOUR
JUNE 29 from 2:00 to 3:30
Of all the art elements, value gets Kato’s vote for MVP – most valuable player award (no pun
intended). Value is one of the basic contrasts that is often weak or overlooked in a painting,
regardless of style. This class will show you why value, and colour as value, is so important.
We’ll wrap up this session with a group exercise that will make you smile.
Register for this class only:
