Your work of art is complete: now what do you do? This series of workshops will discuss the hands on aspects of being an artist. Learn to wire and hang artwork; discover what galleries are looking for and what they expect once you are represented; discuss client relations, needs and expectations. The workshops will end with a panel discussion from members of the art world, including gallerists, curators and exhibiting artists.
January 24 Workshop 1 – Galleries
Artist run, garage, commercial, fine art, heritage. Where does your work fit in?
We will explore the complexities of the art world together and learn how to identify galleries that would be the right fit for your work. Learn how gallerists prefer to be approached and what they expect once they represent you.
We will discuss the importance of creating an inventory of your work, how to invoice a gallery and best practices.
February 28 Workshop 2 – Collectors
There is a collector for every type of artwork.
During this workshop we will discuss how to reach and keep clients.
Plan to review your business cards, website, mailing list, and social media pages. We will also get handy as we learn the best way to wire a work on board or canvas so your client can hang it with ease.
March 27 Panel
Acting as moderator, workshop host Gaby Cole brings together professionals from the art world to explore the highs and lows of running a gallery from both the gallerists and artists point-of-view.
